At AYA, we are attempting to demystify any secrets and misgivings about Ashtanga Yoga.
The following article will try to provide comprehensive and neutral information from various subject-matter experts about Ashtanga Yoga Postures and Practices. We have called this 'Ashtanga Yoga Collection' Project. This project aims to become a ready-reckoner and a reference for yoga teachers and enthusiasts training in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Physiology:
- Fixing of the lower limb muscles in gripping position reduces the blood flow and turn towards the internal organs.
- Maximum muscles are of lower limbs brings the changes quickly than the upper limb muscles.
- Blood flow can be disturbed physically and pressure wise in the vessels.
- Erect position of whole spine brings the Chest wall stimulation for respiratory function, growth of the muscles, segmental breathing (sectional)
- Increases alveolar ventilation and increase the Oxygen saturation quickly.
- Enhances the ANS control of respiratory system
- Improves strength of the Reproductive organs.(Functions like maintains the strength of uterus and menstrual cycles in females, production of sperms and voluntary control of ejaculation process in males).
- Enhance the endocrine functions of Thyroid, pancreas, adrenal and Gonads
- Improves concentration, balance & awareness of whole body
- Balance between the two sides of the whole body without weight bearing on the joints.

- Gow means Cow, Mukha means Face.

Clinical Significance:
Thyroidism, Diabetes, Stroke, IBS, Dyspnea/ Chest congestion, low Lung capacity, very good for paradoxical breathing,Back pain, Varicose veins, Constipation, piles, post natal conditions, Thyroid, and Pancreas disturbances, poor memory & concentration, etc.
