YOGA ACADEMIC COUNCIL
Ajarya Yoga Academic Council
We know that a great Yoga Academy can be made only when we are able to join hands with you and more yoga teachers like you. We would like to make an Academic Council (only Gurus, Acharyas and Upadhyayas are considered for membership) to include all Ajarya-trained Yoga Teachers who would meet regularly and contribute to the growth of Ajarya.
Towards, this we have charted out a plan so all of us can contribute easily and grow in yoga together with Ajarya.
Verticals of Growth
We realise that 200 hours as defined by Yoga Alliance or by many other associations cannot be realistically sufficient to make a yogi or a yoga instructor or a yoga teacher or a yoga therapist. However, a 200-hour training programme at Ajarya becomes an introduction, a gateway to the way of life called Yoga, this we can vouch for. So, we are the bottom of the growth pyramid once we have completed the 200-hour teacher training programme. We are all now Yoga Instructors. We have sufficient privileges to teach the common man or woman yoga, its benefits and its limitations. So, what next? How do we continue to grow in Yoga? We have the following levels of growth charted which you could use.
- Ajarya Guru - Equal to a Resident Professor
- Ajarya Acharya - Equivalent to a Professor - Points >100
- Ajarya Upadhyaya - Equivalent to Preceptor - Points 70 to 100
- Ajarya Adhyapaka - Equivalent to Yoga Teacher - Points 21 to 30
- Ajarya Pathaka - Equivalent to a Reader - Points 11 to 20
- Ajarya Shikshaka - Equivalent to Yoga Instructor - Points 10
So, at the bottom of the pyramid, you have 10 points now.
